I Wanna Dance With Somebody...

I was right.

I expected to be wrong, but that just wasn't to be. When I finally went in to finalize this playlist, I realized just how eclectic the submissions had been, and that it would be a struggle to get the listening order just right.

To be honest, I'm still not sure that what I've put forth below is the best... I suppose you'll have to listen to it and tell me what you think!

Sing and Dance Community Playlist

As always, if you are just now learning about this playlist and/or the others in the series and you want to contribute a song or two, please do; it's never too late on any of them. I will be glad to add more songs and update the playlists on both YouTube and Spotify.

What an interesting bunch of submissions, to say the least! I got comedy songs as well as very serious submissions; even ones in between. We have dips into very different kinds of American musicals like West Side Story, Oklahoma!, Hamilton, and Summertime, not to mention from fairytales like Frozen and Broadway's Cinderella. If that wasn't eclectic enough, we've also got humorous, bordering on parodical songs from Tenacious D and Spinal Tap. And there's even more variety than that, if you can believe it. What a mix!

Trust me, this playlist is a joy to listen to. You'll be surprised at every turn, and pleasantly so.

Even though I didn't get as many submissions as I would have liked, I'm still very happy to have been exposed and introduced to, as well as reminded of so many of these songs and musicals. I didn't realize how many musicals I'd actually seen! So thank you, everyone, for participating.

The play time tops off at just over 50 minutes; not as long as the others we've made, as I always want to get at least one hour. I suppose the issue this time might have been that I don't have the eyes of a lot of musical fans?

Anyway, please enjoy your listening experience with this one! And special thanks to Paul Stewart for his wide-ranging submissions; he helped bulk it up from its quite anemic state. ;D

What Next?

I have three ideas left in my community playlist series. I don't have to do all of them but I've started them all as I always do—with the one or two songs that sparked them. These ideas are as follows: "Forgotten Childhood Favorites," "Anime Favorites," and "Famous Favorites."

Now, I highly suspect that if I were to put these options to a vote, the winner would be "Famous Favorites." I think most of us have a quicker recall for pop tunes, which is completely understandable. Although, it's also possible that choosing one or two favorites would prove more challenging...

I'm leaning more towards "Forgotten Childhood Favorites," myself. The songs I come up with leave me going down a nostalgic rabbit trail of others I'd forgotten about. I could probably finish this playlist on my own, but I'd rather hold back and let everyone offer up their own.

Of course, a lot of people love anime, and I'm not trying to discount or dissuade anyone from choosing this option if it excites you. I've only seen four or five animes, so it would be a joy to be introduced to more through the music.

I'm stuck! Please help. Give me your vote for the next community playlist theme, and if I get enough to form a majority consensus,** that's the one I'll go with.

** In my mind, a "majority consensus" means at least three non-unanimous votes. :D
